America's first theater, opened in 1736 in Charleston, South Carolina, is reportedly haunted by Nettie Dickerson, a young woman who was struck by lightning while standing on the second-floor balcony. Visitors and staff report seeing her ghost walking through the theater still wearing her distinctive red dress. The spirit of actor Junius Brutus Booth, father of Lincoln's assassin, is also said to haunt the premises.
